The Wood Whisperer delivers high quality timber construction across Wellington, Lower and Upper Hutt, Porirua and the greater Wellington region. We specialize in decks, fencing, gates, pergolas and custom outdoor areas, all built with care, precision and long-lasting materials suited to local conditions.
The Wood Whisperer is a Titahi Bay based outdoor building specialist focused on timber craftsmanship and functional design. After 25 years as Head Chef in the hospitality industry, it was time for a life change and to spend more time with the family. Time outside of work is spent building and landscaping around the house and yard, and keeping the kids, pets and chickens happy, as well as starting to pick up local charity work.
From small upgrades to full outdoor transformations, we take the time to understand how you want to use your space and build something that fits your home, lifestyle and environment. Every project is carefully planned and expertly constructed to ensure it looks great and performs well for years to come.
At The Wood Whisperer we love to take the ideas in your head or Pinterest board and turn them into reality. Alternatively, we have a keen eye to suggest design ideas for your space. A lot of what we do is kind of "freestyle organic" - clients want something, but don't always know the full extent of what they are after - the layout, the flow and functionality, etc. We are more than happy to talk through ideas, share experiences, and craft the perfect experience for you. Our motto is "I'll build it, but you have to live with it", so we want it exactly how you want it. We are not here to take your money - if it isn't right we won't recommend it.
Working in partnership with Plantation Bamboo, we are their certified build partner for the lower North Island. We are knowledgeable about building with bamboo and the benefits it brings, and we have extensive experience with builds under our (tool) belts (pun intended). We can incorporate bamboo composites into selected projects where appropriate for durability, sustainability and visual appeal.
